World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade option lets players boost the gear rating of an item by up 700 points and also add a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you bring them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like perfect broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while others like weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can boost their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. They also have a flat bonus which increases their damage per second. Some weapons also have an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a single unit. In some instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon upgrades by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity as well as its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will increase until it requires more Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. This is usually a positive factor, but it could also have negative consequences. For items that are only used in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance) upgrading them can render them unusable unless you have an extremely fortunate roll.
The ability to upgrade armor items to boost their effectiveness. This can boost the defense base of a helm or chest, while belts and gloves can boost their strength and agility. Armor also has a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it can sometimes change its roll to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain after upgrading, as well as the values of these stats. This means that a change from a sword with 8 damage to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon gaining 33% attack damage. However the 3% does not mean that it will strike for 3 fewer times because it's an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button that has circular arrows within the item menu. This will roll the item and alter its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's level nor bind to account status.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make huge differences in your ability to endure. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE improvements in the resistance to curses, poison and fire as well as magic. In general, the greater defense your character is, the more value you can get from every point of health, so it's important to improve your armor as much as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels and the amount of materials and Rupees required to complete each level will differ. In item upgrades , you're looking at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the first upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. The Champion Leathers, for example, can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which allows you to keep up in frigid conditions with a large number of foes. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you can survive a raid with your friends.
It isn't possible to upgrade armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical power or the power of spells. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you wear for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town and you will be able to unlock perks for your armor. Generally speaking, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is beneficial to have a few improvements to the chest armor and helmets to let you stealthy battle certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquid substances that, if consumed, give the user a temporary status effect. There are five kinds of potions, each having specific effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to enhance their level of effectiveness. Alternatively, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust the potions.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP. These can be earned by crafting them using a craft table or the chest of the Alchemist. The upgrade price varies depending on the type of potion used and the item's rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Then select "Upgrade" from the menu. This opens an GUI in which you can select the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll give you when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade until you use it again or break the bottle it's stored in. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
There were some changes to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. For instance splash potions now have the duration of 0:08 (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the item hover display). The potion table is now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons like Java Edition. Similarly, using a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the potion and replenishes the bottle.
Finally, there are lingering potions, which are made with splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can be added to lingering potions to enhance their effects. The table of potion ingredients has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions are also added, such as the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket is a tiny and cheap ornament or piece of jewelry. It could be a reference to an object or ornament that serves a purpose but is not particularly important, such as a trinket. In certain traditions, trinkets are used to signify friendship or affection, especially between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. In contrast to other upgrades for items trinkets are able to be swapped out at will without losing their status.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of every zone and in some cases in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to purchasing a new trinket. A player can upgrade a trinket with as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same level of base as the previous trinket but it also comes with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded once the old ones are no longer useful and allows players to boost their power and value over time. They can be traded among players and are a viable alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most important items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondary items and finally, other pieces of gear that will not be replaced in the near future (for instance, a ring or cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when deciding which items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to a tank player then they should consider upgrading their helm, chest and shoulders.
Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level once they no longer have value, and the new trinket will have an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading. Re-upgrading can cause damage to the trinket unless it can be saved using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still cheaper than buying a new one.
